The Technology Time Machine

In 1997 I was asked to be a guest speaker at a local heavy equipment dealers association dinner at Tuscany’s in Salt Lake City.The dinner was amazing! But then it was my turn to speak about the changing landscape of this new thing called the “Internet.” I explained that that ecommerce would disrupt everything.I told them the day would come that anyone would be able to buy heavy equipment online.

I was basically laughed off the stage as they explained why this would never happen with heavy equipment. Well, here’s the mini excavator I just ordered completely online. And of course, anyone can buy any large equipment online today.

If I could only get that same group of business owners in front of me now! ;~)

I know that if I tell you that AI will change the entire economic landscape and even replace most jobs today, I’ll get a bunch of you who are ready to laugh me off the stage, but beware.
